Wednesday's Weekly Read 9/10

Updated: Sep 9

Hello, kittens.

This week's recommendation is for my junior explorers (and the adults who secretly love a good starry adventure). Moonleapers (Book 1) by Margaret Peterson Haddix is a fast, curious romp with heart—mystery, courage, and the kind of questions that keep you peeking out the window at the night sky.

Why I paw-picked it:

  • Adventure with feelings: Big stakes, but gentle enough for bedtime listening.

  • Smart & speedy: Short chapters and propulsive plot = “one more chapter” syndrome.

  • Wonder forward: Perfect for readers who loved space camps, secret portals, or asking “what if…?”

Ideal for: ages 8–12 (and grownups who want something exciting but not-too-scary). Pair with a cozy blanket and a cup of cocoa (I’ll take cream in a saucer, thanks).

P.S. If your small human loves this one, tell me in the comments which character they’d want to follow onto the next leap. I’m compiling a list of “kiddo-approved” space snacks. (Tuna is space-snack adjacent, yes?)
