I’ve seen Shannon curl up with this book more times than I can count, so I finally decided to paw my way through it myself. And now I understand — she was right.

Year One by Nora Roberts is the first book in her Chronicles of the One trilogy. Dark, magical, and brimming with transformation, it captures the haunting power of Samhain — that mystical night when the veil thins (rather like your Halloween, yes?).

And here’s the best part: the story continues. Book two, Of Blood and Bone, and book three, Rise of Magicks, are every bit as gripping and impossible to put down. Together, the trilogy pulls you through a world remade by chaos, where courage and magic walk hand in hand.

So, if you’re looking for a new series to devour this season, I can’t recommend Chronicles of the One enough.
