A Gathering of Travelers: Our First In-Person Book Club Meeting
November Traveling Tome Book Club Recap
Today, something truly special happened.
Our Traveling Tome Book Club gathered in person for the very first time at Crown & Anchor Pub in Pooler, and it felt like stepping into a warm, bookish haven — the kind of place where stories are shared, friendships deepen, and new chapters quietly begin.
Although one of our Travelers couldn’t join from Houston, the table was full, the energy was easy and open, and the conversation flowed as naturally as tea in a cozy kitchen. For a first in-person meeting, it was everything I could have hoped for… and more.
The Lost Bookshop: Themes, Reflections, and Favorite Moments
Our November selection, The Lost Bookshop, brought out beautiful insights from everyone at the table. As we explored the themes together, a few stood out loud and clear:
Self-discovery — how each character found (or rediscovered) their voice, their courage, and their place in the world.
Found family & belonging — the quiet magic of being seen and understood, sometimes for the first time.
Historical romance & atmospheric storytelling — the charm of layered timelines and intertwined journeys.
Perspective & identity — how multi-POVs can reveal truths characters cannot see about themselves.
Our group gave the book a collective 4 out of 5 stars, with special love for:
the gentle unfolding of the plot
the dual timelines that created emotional resonance
the relatable struggles of each character
the hope woven into every chapter
Every Traveler found a moment or a character that felt personal — a reflection of something in their own story.
Building Community, One Story at a Time
Beyond the book itself, today’s gathering was a reminder of why this club exists in the first place.
We didn’t just discuss a novel — we shared space, shared laughter, shared our interpretations, and shared little pieces of ourselves.
There’s a quiet magic in realizing that even in our busy seasons of life, showing up for a conversation about a book can become the very thing that helps us reconnect — to ourselves and to others.
And that, truly, is what Faebles is all about.
A Home for Both Local & Distant Travelers
One of the things I treasure most about our Traveling Tome community is that it truly does travel.
Although we met in person today, our book club will always remain accessible for remote Travelers — whether you’re across town, across the country, or simply more comfortable joining from home.
Every meeting will include a virtual option, and you are welcome to participate however feels right for you. Your presence, your voice, and your story matter — no matter the distance.
Travelers, Thank You
To everyone who came today: Thank you for your openness. Your insights. Your laughter. Your willingness to show up — not just for the book, but for each other.
Today was the beginning of something beautiful, and I can’t wait to gather again next month… this time with a little tea-tasting adventure to celebrate the close of our reading year.
Until then, Travelers —May your stories lead you somewhere wonderful. And may you always find the magic tucked between the pages.
— Shannon, Keeper of the Traveling Tome
