Faebles December TBR

Faebles Tomes & Teas December TBR

A month of cozy reads, sequels we’ve waited forever for, customer recs, and holiday magic.

There’s just something about December that makes a TBR feel extra special. The twinkle lights, the mugs of tea, the cold mornings that practically insist you curl up with a book… it’s peak reading season.

So I’m kicking off the month with eight stories that span everything from holiday romance to dark fantasy, personal memoir, Scottish library magic, and one classic I’ve been meaning to get to for far too long.

Let’s dive into the stack.

GOOD SPIRITS — B.K. Borison

Our December Book Box Read

We started the month strong with Good Spirits, our official pick for the Traveling Tome Book Box — and y’all… this one FLEW off the carriage. We sold out at the Lantern Light Market in record time, and for good reason. It’s cozy, warm, a little magical, and exactly the kind of holiday romance you want to read with a blanket and a mug of something delicious.

Black book cover of "Brimstone" by Callie Hart, with fiery orange text and an open golden-lined edge, creating a dramatic effect.
Brimstone By Callie Hart - Book 2 Fae & Alchemy Series

BRIMSTONE — Callie Hart

The long-awaited sequel to Quicksilver

I have been WAITING for this one. If you loved Quicksilver, you already know the grip this world has on you — and when Brimstone finally arrived, it sold out at Lantern Light just as fast as Good Spirits did. Dark, twisty, addictive… I can’t wait to fall right back into this universe.

BIG NICK ENERGY — Morgan Elizabeth

We originally ordered this for the carriage… and then I made the mistake of opening it.I haven’t put it down since.

This is Hallmark Channel meets just a pinch of spice and honestly? It’s the PERFECT cozy holiday read. Cute, charming, snowy, festive — absolute December delight. Plus… it’s on sale for Libro.fm members right now for $2.79 which is just wild.

THAT’S A GREAT QUESTION, I’D LOVE TO TELL YOU — Elyse Myers

I love Elyse Myers. She’s raw, authentic, hilarious, painfully relatable, and genuinely one of my favorite internet humans. This memoir has been sitting on my list and December finally felt like the right time to jump in.

THE SECRET CHRISTMAS LIBRARY — Jenny Colgan

I stumbled across this one on Libro.fm last month and instantly knew I needed it. Holiday + Books + Scotland? Say less. Add to cart. It feels like a warm mince pie with twinkle lights — I can’t wait to dive in.

EMPIRE OF AI — Karen Hao

I use AI every single day — mostly in place of Google at this point — so when this book popped onto my radar, I knew I had to understand the bigger picture. The tech, the ethics, the impact… everything. This one will be a fascinating break from my usual fiction.

NORTHANGER ABBEY — Jane Austen

I discovered this classic while reading The Austen Affair a few months ago (highly recommend — such a fun historical rom com with a time travel twist!).Since the whole story centered around Northanger Abbey, I knew I needed to read the original next.

Plus, I’m firmly of the belief that your TBR should always include at least one classic.

BURY OUR BONES IN THE MIDNIGHT SOIL — V.E. Schwab

This one comes directly from you — several customers in the carriage have recommended it, and you all rarely steer me wrong. Dark, lyrical, atmospheric… I’m intrigued and slightly nervous in the best way.

What’s on your December TBR?

I love seeing what everyone else is reading this month — drop your titles in the comments so we can build out our collective winter reading list.
