This month, our Story Lovers gathered to unravel the tangled web of The Family Upstairs and The Family Remains. What a night of twists, turns, and spirited conversation!
We marveled at Ruth Ware’s writing — how her alternating POVs kept us perched on the edge of our seats, eager for “just one more page.” Themes of cultism, childhood trauma, and Henry’s chilling sociopathy sparked rich discussion, while the many twists had us all gasping in unison.
When it came to ratings, here’s how our tea cups stacked up:
🍵 2 readers: 4 tea cups
🍵 2 readers: 4.5 tea cups
🍵 1 reader: 5 tea cups.
Average rating: 4.4 tea cups 🍵🍵🍵🍵
Instead of our usual trivia, we played a different game this month: who could read the book the fastest? Our very own Amy devoured it in just a day and a half, winning herself a Fantasy “Blind Date with a Book”! Bravo, Amy!
One thing we all agreed upon: there should most certainly be more Ruth Ware in our future.
Looking ahead, we’re diving headfirst into The Starling House by Alix E. Harrow — a gothic tale where dreams and nightmares blur inside a mysterious house that has a will of its own. Dark, enchanting, and a perfect September read.
And best of all — our September book boxes are packed and ready for pick up at the Whistlestop Market tomorrow night in Pembroke. Each box includes:
✨ A stunning sprayed-edge edition of The Starling House
✨ A tin of Simpson & Vail’s Edgar Allan Poe loose-leaf tea blend
