The Beauty of the In Between

Ah, my dearest readers, how curious this stretch of August always feels. Summer has not yet loosened her sun-warmed grip, yet autumn stands at the threshold, whispering of crisp mornings and evenings scented with spice.
In this in-between, I find myself lingering with stories that make my pulse quicken. And what a wild tale we’ve chosen for this month’s Traveling Tome! The Family Upstairs has been positively unputdownable — secrets unraveling, twists lurking around every corner, and the kind of characters who leave you equal parts unsettled and entranced. I must confess, more than one evening has slipped away while I turned “just one more page.”
And yet, as much as this story has consumed us, I can’t help but peek toward September, where a different kind of darkness awaits. Next month, we’ll step into Alix E. Harrow’s The Starling House — a gothic whisper of a tale, drenched in shadows, secrets, and the strange pull of a house that seems to breathe on its own. Perfect, I think, for the season of candlelight and crisp leaves.
So tell me, dear friends — how are you faring with The Family Upstairs? Have you, too, found yourself caught in its tangled web of family secrets? And will you dare to follow me into The Starling House when autumn arrives?
With a raised teacup and a conspiratorial wink,
Lady Mirabella Faebles
